Elections in Afghanistan: 2018 National Parliamentary (Wolesi Jirga) Elections

On October 20, the Afghan people will go to the polls for parliamentary elections, organized by the Independent Election Commission.

Initially scheduled for the fall of 2015, the elections of the 250 members of the Wolesi Jirga (House of the People or Lower House) have been postponed several times. Voters will elect the Wolesi Jirga to a five-year term, choosing among candidates from 33 out of the 34 provinces.
