Se ha celebrado hoy en Bruselas la 11ª reunión de la Comisión permanente UE-Rusia, al acabar la cual suele encontrarse con los periodistas en una breve conferencia de prensa. En esta ocasión se ha decidido no convocarla en la Sala de Prensa del Parlamento Europeo, dedicada desde hace un año a Anna Politkóvskaya, sino en una sala diferente, no equipada.
Ho ritenuto necessario scrivere di urgenza al Presidente Poettering e alla Presidente della delegazione EU-Russia, Ria Oomen-Ruijten, per esprimere tutta la mia sorpresa e chiedere chiarimenti.
Le autorità Russe non hanno mai perso l'occasione per ribadire il proprio interesse nella prosecuzione delle indagini sull'uccisione della giornalista e hanno sempre partecipato alle commemorazioni organizzate in Italia e in Europa.
Credo che in questa circostanza si sia persa l'occasione di incontrare la stampa nella sala ufficiale, che simboleggia, attraverso il nome di Anna Politkovskaya, l'impegno del Parlamento per la democrazia e la libertà di espressione.

The press conference of the 11th EU-RUSSIA PCC Meeting will be hold tomorrow from 12.30 to 13 in room A1G1. I'm quite surprised that this appointment with the press has not been convened in the Press room of the European Parliament, named after Anna Politkovskaya.
The Russian Journalist has been killed in October 2006 and we are still waiting to know the real responsibilities behind her death.
In the meanwhile, Russian authorities have always affirmed their intention to go on with the investigations and have never failed in participating to commemorations in memory of Anna Politkovskaya in Rome and around Europe
I think that we shouldn't lose the occasion of having such an official appointment between EU and Russian representatives in our Press room, that symbolise our commitment for democracy and freedom of speech.
I'll be interested in knowing the reason why the press conference has been scheduled in a different venue and I'll urge you to take all the necessary measures to move the appointment to the appropriate location.
